The Brenda and Nicol (Blocks 15/25b and 15/25a) Fields are our flagship properties in the UK North Sea. We discovered the 100% owned Brenda Field in 2003 and quickly began an extensive and successful appraisal program. We then farmed-in to the Nicol Field in 2005 and currently have a 70% equity stake. In 2006, we signed an agreement with our partners on the Nicol Field that will eventually give Oilexco 100% equity interest in the Field.
The Brenda Field consists of five wells. The Nicol Field has one well and the potential for adding a second depending on the performance of the reservoir. The oil from Brenda/Nicol is 40º API which trades at a premium to the Brent Standard.
Oil from the Brenda/Nicol Fields is extracted by a state of the art subsea multi-port manifold and multi-phase booster pump capable of producing 51,000 bbls/d of fluid capacity. The Brenda manifold acts as a central gathering hub that contains 8 well slots to support future production from other fields. The multiport manifold can divert any well through to the subsea multiphase meter to allow continuous well testing for reservoir monitoring and well allocation.
The Nicol well is tied into the manifold on the Brenda Field 10 kms away along with the three Brenda wells. The oil then travels from the manifold to the Balmoral Floating Production Vessel 6 kms away where it is processed and then shipped through the Forties Pipeline to the mainland. Fibre optic technology has been installed to allow our engineers to test each well individually and communicate this information to our Aberdeen and Calgary offices in real time, thereby allowing us to maximize the total recovery from the fields.
